Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) criticized Senate Democrats after they blocked a continuing resolution that would have extended government funding through November 21, 2025. The move resulted in a government shutdown.
In his statement, Congressman Womack said, “Today, Democrats exhibited a baffling level of disregard for the American people by forcing a government shutdown. No fiscally responsible legislator wants to see our government funded through endless CRs, but choosing to shut down the government over radical demands is unreasonable and unjustifiable. Moving forward, my focus is fully on opening the government back up and passing each of the Fiscal Year 2026 funding bills into law.”
Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 after succeeding John Boozman in Congress. He serves as a member of the House Appropriations Committee and lives in Rogers, Arkansas. Born in Russellville in 1957, he graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in 1979.
