Our annual Healthcare Reception was hosted last night on September 15th downtown at Wyndham Fort Smith. The cocktail reception provided attendees a chance to network and mingle with other Chamber Members & Community Leaders & many of our "New to the Area" Physicians & medical students. During the program, we highlighted the importance of the Healthcare industry in our Region. In terms of Economic Development, quality healthcare is a key factor. According to recent reports over 11,260 residents are employed in the healthcare sector in the Fort Smith MSA which represents 11% of our total Workforce. our many wonderful Healthcare Institutions continue to make investments into our community totaling upwards of $300 million for recent & upcoming projects.
We take pride in our region and our Healthcare Celebration for the month of September & cocktail reception are just a small way for us to show our appreciation.
During the event, our special honoree for our "2022 Physician of the Year" award was Dr. Timothy Waack. Dr. Waack is a retired Interventional Cardiologist who practiced in Fort Smith for 26 years.
