University of Arkansas - Fort Smith recently issued the following announcement.
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will award a total of $3,000 in scholarships during a special presentation that will take place during halftime of the men’s Homecoming basketball game, which begins at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, February 17, at the Stubblefield Arena.
Six area high school students will each receive a $500 Principal's Scholarship in recognition of their high school achievements. The scholarship presentation will take place immediately before the announcement of the 2022 UAFS Homecoming Court.
This year’s Principal’s Scholarship recipients are:
Christian Wharton – accepting their award with Alma High School Principal, Brian Kirkendoll
Kaitlyn Awbrey - accepting their award with Van Buren High School Principal, Eddie Tipton
Leah Hefflin - accepting their award with Greenwood High School Principal, Joshua Ray
Messiah Mitchell - accepting their award with North High School Principal, Keri Rathbun
Fabiola Velez - accepting their award with Southside High School Principal, Jeff Prewitt
Kali Peters - accepting their award with Future School of Fort Smith Principal, Allison Montiel
The Principal Scholarship is so named because recipients are selected by their high school principal.
This presentation is part of UAFS’s weeklong Wild Roarin’ West Homecoming celebration which also includes festivities such as a Western Showdown, Alumni Reunion Brunch, and Saturday Tailgate.
