University of Arkansas - Fort Smith issued the following announcement on July 23.

Attention all Returning Students, Staff, Faculty, and RSO Advisors: The Office of Housing and Residential Life is in need of a few elite volunteers to help with Fall Move-In!

Hundreds of students will call either the Lion’s Den or Sebastian Commons home this fall. A great way to welcome them to their new home is to help them move-in! Please volunteer to be part of Numa’s Move-in Crew! The crew will NOT be physically touching any personal items or going in rooms. Instead, they will provide support in other methods. Being on the crew allows you to interact with students and parents by showing them that UAFS is a great place to be. You will receive a FREE t-shirt and all the water that you can drink.

Shifts:

Friday, Aug. 20: 8:30 a.m. to noon; noon to 4 p.m. – Sebastian Commons
Saturday, Aug. 21: 8:30 .a.m to noon; noon to 4 p.m. – Sebastian Commons
Saturday, Aug. 15: 8-11 a.m.; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Lion’s Den

Tasks:

Directional support in parking lots and at building entrances
Hydration stations
Blue cart check-out and sanitizing
Assist with heavy lifting where needed and where all parties feel comfortable
Exhibit Lion spirit

This is a volunteer event. If UAFS employees choose to volunteer during the work week, please be sure to have your supervisor’s approval. Staff members who wish to volunteer will not need to use any leave time to participate in this project.

To be a volunteer, you must register by Aug. 13. If you are a member of a student organization, you are in charge of signing up yourself! Cub Camp counselors do NOT need to register. You will be required to sign a volunteer waiver when you arrive for your shift.

Please be advised that no solicitation may occur during fall move-in activities. This means no one may “stand on the sidelines” and table, handout freebies, etc. Only volunteers who have registered will be permitted in and around the Housing facilities.

If you are signed up to live on campus this fall, you are a returning student, and you register to volunteer, you may move in early at no extra fee. Your early move-in date is Aug. 18, and you will receive a link to pick a time. If you already picked a move-in time on a different day, please cancel that appointment and select one on the 18th when you receive that email. Thank you!!
