Rep. Steve Womack, who represents Arkansas’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, marked the anniversary of September 11 and discussed congressional duties regarding national defense and government funding in a series of posts on September 11, 2025.
In a post published at 12:18 p.m., Womack reflected on the significance of September 11, stating, “September 11, 2001, marks one of the darkest days in American history. The heinous terrorist attacks that day claimed nearly 3,000 innocent lives. Today, we remember the victims and the many heroes who risked their lives to save others. In the face of unimaginable tragedy,” he wrote.
Later that afternoon at 3:14 p.m., Womack addressed Congress’s constitutional responsibility for national security and support for military funding: “Providing for the Common Defense is Congress’ constitutional duty, and I’m proud to support the FY26 NDAA to ensure our military can deter emerging threats. But passing this bill is just the first step. To finish our work, Congress must expeditiously pass @HouseAppropsGOP’s FY26”.
At 5:22 p.m., Womack acknowledged recent legislative progress on government appropriations bills: “Yesterday, @HouseAppropsGOP finished marking up all twelve bills to fund the government, thanks to the leadership of Chair @TomColeOK04. Now it’s time for Congress to finish the job.”
Womack has represented Arkansas’s 3rd District since 2011 after succeeding John Boozman. Born in Russellville in 1957 and currently residing in Rogers, he graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a BA in 1979.
