Rep. Steve Womack, who has represented Arkansas’ 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2011, highlighted his recent activities and legislative priorities in a series of social media posts on August 29, 2025.

In a post at 13:51 UTC, Womack addressed challenges facing youth aging out of foster care: “Each year, approximately 20,000 young people age out of our foster care system without a permanent family or a home. These individuals deserve a fair shot at the American dream, and commonsense housing support through the FYI Initiative opens the door to it.”

Later that day at 17:19 UTC, he shared an encounter with a constituent at West Point: “At @WestPoint_USMA, I ran into Cadet Jackson Witherington of Greenwood. Nominating standout students to our elite service academies is an honor, and Cadet Witherington is one of the Third District’s finest!”

At 19:57 UTC, Womack reiterated his support for housing initiatives benefiting former foster youth: “A top priority of @FLOTUS‘s Fostering the Future Initiative is providing housing support for youth transitioning out of foster care—a cause I am proud to get behind. Learn more about how Congress can help create better outcomes for these young people.”

Womack’s focus on supporting youth transitioning from foster care aligns with national efforts to address homelessness among this vulnerable population. As congressman for Arkansas’s 3rd district—a position he has held since succeeding John Boozman in 2011—Womack has regularly advocated for programs aimed at improving outcomes for young adults leaving state care. He was born in Russellville, Arkansas in 1957 and currently resides in Rogers. Womack graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a BA in 1979.
