Rep. Steve Womack, U.S. Congressman representing Arkansas’s 3rd district since 2011, used his social media account on September 30, 2025, to address both local achievements and national legislative matters.
In a morning post, Womack congratulated four students from his district: “Four of these exceptional students come from #AR3! A huge congratulations to: Taylor Matthew Conran of Farmington; Xavier Christopher Herzig of Alma; Scarlet Moore Hudgins of Fayetteville; and Aubrey Scherer of Rogers” (posted at 11:54 UTC). The message highlighted academic or community achievements by youth in Farmington, Alma, Fayetteville, and Rogers.
Later that day, Womack commented on the ongoing federal budget negotiations in Congress. At 14:40 UTC, he posted: “Democrats’ radical and unreasonable counterproposal to @HouseGOP’s clean CR makes one thing clear: they were never negotiating in good faith. If the government shuts down at midnight, the responsibility lies squarely with them.” In this statement, Womack attributed potential blame for a government shutdown to Democratic lawmakers.
At 17:14 UTC the same day, Womack expanded on the legislative process: “.@HouseGOP has done its job. We passed a clean, seven-week CR that funds the government and gives Congress the chance to finish full-year appropriations for Fiscal Year 2026. Sound simple? That’s because it is. I’m hoping Senate Democrats agree this time—and put America first.”
Womack’s comments come as Congress worked against a deadline to pass a continuing resolution (CR) aimed at keeping the federal government funded into Fiscal Year 2026. The House GOP passed a seven-week stopgap measure as negotiations with Senate Democrats continued.
Womack has represented Arkansas’s 3rd District since succeeding John Boozman in 2011. Born in Russellville in 1957 and now residing in Rogers, he is an alumnus of Arkansas Tech University (BA, class of 1979).
