Rep. Steve Womack, who represents Arkansas’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on October 6, 2025, addressing the ongoing government shutdown and its impact.
In a tweet published at 15:32 UTC, Womack commented on the duration and consequences of the shutdown: “Day 6 of the government shutdown and real-world consequences are beginning to take hold. Senate Democrats have the opportunity to make it right today by passing the clean CR.”
Later that day, at 18:48 UTC, he highlighted economic concerns associated with the shutdown: “$15 BILLION—that’s how much the U.S. could lose in GDP each week the government is shut down. Americans are paying the price of Democrat games.”
At 20:46 UTC, Womack expressed appreciation for federal employees continuing their duties during the funding lapse: “Grateful to our nation’s dedicated air traffic controllers who continue to work, without pay, during this Democrat-led government shutdown.”
Womack has served as a member of Congress since 2011 after succeeding John Boozman and currently resides in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born in Russellville in 1957 and graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979.
The current government shutdown has resulted from an impasse over federal funding legislation. Continuing resolutions (CRs) are temporary measures often used by Congress to keep agencies operating while longer-term appropriations are negotiated.
