Rep. Steve Womack, U.S. Congressman representing Arkansas’s 3rd district since 2011, documented a series of visits with Acting Administrator Sang Yi of the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (DOTMARAD) on September 23, 2025. The focus was on commercial supply chain challenges, technological innovation in logistics, and regional infrastructure development.
In a post from the morning of September 23, Womack stated: “.@DOTMARAD Acting Administrator Sang Yi is in #AR3! We began our day at Walmart’s Home Office in Bentonville, where we met with company leadership to discuss commercial supply chain challenges and opportunities, particularly in the global ocean import sector.”
Later that day, Womack highlighted another visit: “Excellent visit to the ArcBest Innovation Lab in Fort Smith with @DOTMARAD Acting Administrator Yi. We learned about ArcBest’s development and utilization of AI/ML and automation technologies to solve multimodal logistics challenges.”
The tour continued into the River Valley region. In an evening post on September 23, Womack reported: “Acting Administrator Yi and I continued our visit in the River Valley with a stop at Five Rivers Distribution and a site tour of the future Slackwater Harbor in Van Buren. The Harbor received a grant from MARAD and will be a key enabler for increased commerce in our region.”
