Rep. Steve Womack, U.S. Congressman representing Arkansas’s 3rd district since 2011, criticized Democratic lawmakers in a series of posts on October 2, 2025, regarding the recent federal government shutdown and its impact on constituents.
In a tweet posted at 15:32 UTC, Womack stated: “The people of #AR3 are already feeling the consequences of Democrats’ shutdown from roadblocks in veteran care to TSA agents at XNA working without pay. They deserve better.”
Later that day, at 18:06 UTC, he wrote: “Jeopardizing services for veterans and their families is unconscionable. Yet that’s exactly what Democrats did when they blocked the clean continuing resolution.”
Womack continued his criticism in a post at 20:12 UTC: “Right now, we should be working to fund the government though full-year appropriations. Instead, Democrats have effectively taken the federal government hostage, putting their political agenda ahead of the American people.”
Steve Womack has served as a member of Congress since replacing John Boozman in 2011 and currently resides in Rogers, Arkansas. Born in Russellville in 1957 and an alumnus of Arkansas Tech University (class of 1979), Womack has been an advocate for his district through multiple terms.
The current shutdown referenced by Womack stems from congressional disagreements over government funding measures—a recurring issue that often leads to disruptions in federal services such as veteran care and airport security operations.
