Rep. Steve Womack, a U.S. Congressman representing Arkansas’ 3rd district since 2011, posted a series of statements on October 1, 2025, regarding the recent government shutdown and its implications for health care.
In his first post at 16:03 UTC, Womack wrote, “Democrats have made their decision.”
Later that day at 17:16 UTC, he expanded on his criticism of Democratic lawmakers’ actions during the shutdown debate. He stated, “Democrats say they shut down the government for better health care. But here’s what their vote against the CR really does to patient care:
Hurts community health centers caring for patients in underserved areas
Halts research for new diabetes treatments
Restricts”
Womack concluded his remarks with another post at 18:50 UTC, stating simply, “It didn’t have to be this way.”
Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing John Boozman in 2011. Born in Russellville, Arkansas in 1957 and currently residing in Rogers, Womack graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a BA in 1979.
