Rep. Steve Womack, who represents Arkansas’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed the ongoing government shutdown and its effects through a series of posts on October 3, 2025.
In a morning post, Womack highlighted the immediate impacts of the shutdown, stating “These are the real consequences of a government shutdown.” (October 3, 2025).
Later that day, he commented on potential solutions to end the impasse: “This shutdown and its costly impact will end IF Senate Democrats agree that passing a clean, seven-week CR is not an unreasonable ask.” (October 3, 2025).
Womack also referenced discussions with House Speaker Mike Johnson regarding developments in Washington. He posted: “In this week’s special edition of my Comment from the Capitol, I had the honor of welcoming @SpeakerJohnson, who outlined the latest on the government shutdown—how we got here, what’s at stake, and what happens next. Listen now!” (October 3, 2025).
Womack has served as a representative for Arkansas’s 3rd District since 2011 after succeeding John Boozman. He was born in Russellville in 1957 and currently resides in Rogers. Womack graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979.
