Rep. Steve Womack announces wife’s passing and comments on FY26 appropriations bills

Rep. Steve Womack, a U.S. Congressman representing Arkansas’ 3rd district since 2011, shared personal and legislative updates on his Twitter account this week.

On January 20, Womack announced the passing of his wife, Terri Womack. In his post, he wrote, “Sunday afternoon, Heaven welcomed an angel. My wife of 41 years, Terri Womack, went to live in eternity with Jesus. My heart is broken and that space remains without her presence. I take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering in pain and is at peace evermore. Her legacy of https://t.co/ns9rgRZDv3” (January 20, 2026).

Despite his loss, Womack continued with his legislative duties. On January 22, he posted about addressing the House regarding appropriations legislation: “I just spoke on the House Floor in support of the FY26 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) appropriations bill, which I have the honor of overseeing as @HouseAppropsGOP THUD Subcommittee Chairman. Despite a terrible personal hardship, I am here today because https://t.co/NV6eElkSIM” (January 22, 2026).

Later that day, Womack reported progress on federal funding bills: “The House just passed the remaining FY26 funding bills, including the bill I oversee as the @HouseAppropsGOP THUD Subcommittee Chairman. My division of today’s package shifts us away from bloated bureaucracy and refocuses taxpayer dollars on priorities that matter to the https://t.co/sDE6mW5W4w” (January 22, 2026).

Womack was born in Russellville, Arkansas in 1957 and currently resides in Rogers. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979 before beginning his political career by succeeding John Boozman in Congress.
