Rep. Steve Womack, U.S. Congressman representing Arkansas’s 3rd district since 2011, posted a series of updates on his social media accounts addressing recent events and milestones in Arkansas.

On August 24, 2025, Womack credited former Governor Asa Hutchinson for advancing legislative efforts in the state. He wrote, “This milestone would not have been possible if it weren’t for the leadership of Gov. @AsaHutchinson and his efforts in getting Issue 1 passed.”

The following day, August 25, Womack addressed an ongoing safety situation at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus. At 17:45 UTC he stated, “My team and I are closely monitoring reports of an active shooter near Mullins Library on the University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus. If you’re in the vicinity, please follow all safety alerts.”

Later that evening at 21:07 UTC, Womack commended law enforcement and university officials for their response to the incident. He said, “As investigators continue to learn more about today’s lockdown at @UArkansas, I commend and am deeply grateful for the swift, coordinated, and thorough response from University of Arkansas Police, the Fayetteville Police, and University leadership to ensure the safety of every”.

Womack has represented Arkansas’s 3rd District in Congress since succeeding John Boozman in 2011. Born in Russellville in 1957 and currently residing in Rogers, he graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a BA in 1979.
