Immaculate Conception Church – Fort Smith issued the following announcement on May 8.

On April 22, Bishop Anthony Taylor made the announcement of several pastoral changes in the Diocese of Little Rock. Among these is the new assignment for our associate pastor, Fr. Daniel Velasco. Fr. Daniel Velasco has been appointed administrator of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church in Little Rock, director of spiritual direction formation for the Diocese of Little Rock, and director of spiritual formation for the House of Formation in Little Rock effective July 1st. He is relieved of his responsibilities as associate pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Smith and chaplain of Trinity Catholic School in Fort Smith effective June 30th. Rev. Balaraju Akkala has been appointed associate pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Smith and chaplain of Trinity Catholic School in Fort Smith. He is relieved of his responsibilities as associate pastor of St. Stephen Church in Bentonville and administrator of Blessed Stanley Rother Church in Decatur. We are sad to see Fr. Daniel leave us but we have been blessed to have him be part of our I.C. family for almost two years. We have learned so much from him! We wish Fr. Daniel the best as he moves to Little Rock to continues to work in the Lord’s vineyard! We are excited to receive and welcome Fr. Bala on July 1st into our I.C. family!
