On December 3th 2022, volunteers helped honor the servicemen and women of our community at the 14th Annual Christmas Honors event by placing one wreath on each of the headstones.The time has come to pick up and store the wreaths in preparation for next year’s event. Volunteers are needed on Thursday, January 5th, 2023 at the Fort Smith Convention Center Hall C beginning at 9:00AM to help pick up, clean and pack 16,000+ wreaths. Truck and trailers are needed to help with the transportation. The local event transforms the Fort Smith National Cemetery each December into a vision of beauty by placing a wreath on each headstone to honor those who have served and their families. The first year more than 1,000 volunteers respectfully placed a wreath on each of the 12,000 headstones. The program has since grown to serving 16,000+ veterans and their families.
