Arkansas Tech University issued the following announcement on May 26.

When you have a 4.6 high school grade point average and are ranked top six among a high school graduating class of 550 students, you have options when it comes to selecting a university.

After touring 12 campuses, Avery Stanley of Yukon, Okla., chose Arkansas Tech University. She will be a freshman on ATU’s Russellville campus in fall 2022.

“I think what made me pick (ATU) is the atmosphere,” said Avery. “Everyone seemed to be really friendly. The campus is so beautiful and it seemed like I would get a good education. I’m really looking forward to going to a lot of the events that happen here. I love being involved. I’m also excited to meet new people and get outside my comfort zone. I feel like at a lot of other universities I was overwhelmed. When I got here, everything seemed calm and it gave me a sense of peace.”

Avery will be a member of the Golden Suns cross country team and will major in nursing at ATU.
